Reuse Your Old Laptop HDD or SSD

Turn an Internal Drive into External Storage

Install a compatible 2.5-inch SATA drive in the Amaze A205 and use it as external storage through a supported USB connection. It can be useful for accessing files from an old laptop drive or reusing an SSD after upgrading your computer.

Transfer Files with USB 3.0

USB 3.0 supports interface speeds up to 5Gbps. Actual file-transfer speeds depend on the installed drive, USB port, cable, and computer. Mechanical hard drives generally transfer data more slowly than the interface’s maximum speed.

Benefit from UASP Support

The enclosure supports UASP, a USB storage protocol that can improve command handling and performance in compatible setups. Actual benefits depend on support from the enclosure, installed drive, operating system, and USB controller.

Simple, Tool-Free Installation

The tool-free design is intended to make fitting a compatible drive easier. Follow the product’s installation instructions and ensure the drive is correctly seated before connecting the enclosure.

Check Compatibility Before Buying

The Amaze A205 is designed for compatible 2.5-inch SATA HDDs and SSDs. It should not be assumed to support M.2 SATA or NVMe drives, which use different form factors and interfaces.

Before ordering, confirm your drive’s physical size, SATA interface, and thickness compatibility. The stated 2TB capacity is based on the supplied specifications, so check with the seller if you plan to use a larger drive.

If your drive contains important files, keep a separate backup. An enclosure provides connectivity but does not recover data from a failed or damaged drive.
